If you are looking for a bike to do some serious range with, with a bit of style, look no further. The Engwe M20 electric bike is a heavy duty road bike that is surprisingly comfortable and powerful. Built from Aluminium to keep the weight lower but be robust enough for the road. The 750W motor is more than enough power for the steep hills of Brighton producting 55N.m Torque, coupled with 7 speed shimano gears, you don't have anything to worry about.
The Engwe M20 electric bike comes in 3 colours and 2 variations. White, green or black and the option of a single 13ah battery or 2 13ah batteries. The single version does have the brackets for the second battery to be fitted at a later date, but buying the 2 battery version works out cheaper than upgrading down the line. For a bit of context, 1 13Ah battery should take you approx 20 miles (not peddling) however, if you do pedal the bike this would massively increase the range of the bike as the battery would be doing a lot less work.
Comfort: The engwe M20 electric bike comes with Front and rear suspension, which really makes a difference, coupled with the bikes fat 20"x4.0 tyres means for a very smooth ride, changing a 20"4.0 tyre is also a very easy task.
Controls: the bike has a display which will tell you speed, battery, trip and power settings. With 4 power settings you can change the power setting according to your personal preferences if you still wanted to get a work out or if you wanted to sit back and let the bike do all the work. 0 being no power, 1 low, 2 medium and 3 full power. A light switch and horn are on a separate button. Brake levers not only activate the brakes but also cut power to the motor.
Lights: It would be rude not to mention the lights on this bike. 2 very powerful headlights will make you stand out on the road as well as illuminate the way for you. Its something that isn't talked about enough with bikes, but other road users being able to see you is one of the most important aspects of staying safe. The rear light not only acts as a constant tail light but also brightens when the brakes are activated alerting drivers behind that you are stopping. This can only be a good thing.
Use: The bike comfortably rides at 15.5 and has very good acceleration. A throttle on the handlebar controls the speed of the bike with a simple twist. The Engwe M20 also comes with a pedal sensor, so when you turn the pedals the motor will kick into life. Pulling away from traffic lights for instance you can really get going fast.
Useful info: Its important to bead in mind, this bike is not small and it is not light. So it would require you to have some space to store over night and probably not practical if you have a hefty staircase to navigate. Batteries are removable and can be charged from flat in 5 hours however. With any lithium product we recommend charging it not unattended over night, and probably not a bad idea to get a surge protector for the charger. We also stock the inner tube, tyres and brakes so its worth having at the least a spare inner tube. You will need a quality bike pump, and bike oil (we stock both) and its worth remembering this is a vehicle, it will need regular maintenance to keep it in good condition.
Warranty: At the Scooter.shop we hold a contract to provide warranty service with Engwe so be safe in the knowledge that if you buy from us, you wont be asked to jump through hoops should anything go wrong, just bring the bike into us. Please see terms and conditions for warranty details.
